choppy picture when playing dvd

when i play a dvd it everything us good except the
picture is choppy it stops a bit every 5 seconds or so
can any one help thanx

Try cleaning the DVD before playing. I rent alot of

DVD's and sometimes they are quite dirty and a little
scratched and the playback is choppy or freezes for a
second or two.. Or it could be the lens on your drive.
You can buy cleaning kits for either anywhere they sell
DVD's or computers.

lens ill hev to try it on other dvd's. but my comp also
freezes a bit like the picture do u or anyone have any
suggestions thanx
 
There are many reasons why this could be happening. First of all you need to determine whether the problem is with the reading of the data from the disc or if it's a playback issue

If it is a problem with the reading of the discs there should be some tell-tale signs. For example the drive could be making quite a lot of noise, the drive would tend to keep changing speed and the read light would flash more erraticallly. To be honest it doesn't sound like the problem is here though

To try and figure where the problem is with playback you need to look at several things. Has the playback always been like this or has it just recently started to degrade in performance? What DVD playback software are you using? Is it the latest release? Have you tried any other software? Whats your CPU, memory and graphics card like? Presumably it meets the minimum specs for DVD playback, probabbly about a P2 400Mhz at least 128mb ram and a 16/32mb graphics card

Don't forget you have to have a good chunk of CPU power and enough ram to
get smooth operation. You did not post your system. Also turn off all junk
and try using the program by itself.

i am have windows xp and i use WMP to play my dvds and i

tried InterActual plyer too and the same thing happens if
u have any advice or problems solver thanx in advance for
posting them

p.s. i also have the latest upgrades
