Greetings from a first time user from Somerset.
I'm putting together a new system, socket 939 and can figure most things ok except graphics cards. Sheesh, the choice.
I do NOT do games but do photo manipulation (Photoshop), would like to play DVDs, and in the future will probably edit video (camcorder). Do not want to spend more than necessary but do not want to be frustrated by slow operation.
What level of card should I be looking at, 5500, 6200, x300, 9600 Pro???
Any advice?

Also, I want to contact one of the members who advertised a case. I have his log in name, KGB-911, but cannot figure out how. Help!

And thanks
Stephen

The case is sold...

If you dont do games but do edit photos etc you would probably be safe with an nVidia 6600GT 128Mb they are about £100 and are mid-range mid-price... Or if you want an ATI card then go for the X800GTO - this is a SWEET bargain at the moment, selling at www.overclockers.co.uk

You will probably need a PCI-e one for a S939 system. the 5500 and 9600pro you mentioned i think are purely AGP - if your system is PCI-e (not sure? then tell us your motherboard details) and you buy an AGP system you simply couldnt install it!

if your doing profesional work the matrox cards are the best but unfortunately the dont come in PCI-E

if your using an AGP board then your in luck if its PCI-E then a 6600GT would probably be ok
