Hello,

I'm searching for a laser printer to buy.
I will use it mostly for text and I wish I could get a quite nice quality,
with the lowest cost per page.

Can someone give me some advice or specific brand or model?

Thanks a lot!

Ed

The Samsung 1710 is very low priced after rebate and has excellent text
quality. You can also try the new HP LaserJet 1012.

With B&W you don't have to worry about color so just buy whatever price
you can afford. I just saw my local Office Deport has refurbished HP laser
printer (?) for $99.xx after special sale and mail in rebate. Since I
already have laser printer else at the price I would buy one myself.

I think it might be best to do a spot of homework first and look at the
costs of the replacement toner cartridges and the number of pages per
replacement. Sometimes the cheapest printer to buy has it's low cost offset
by the high cost of the replacement toner cartridges in which case it may be
best to spend a little more on the printer in the first if the running costs
are going to be lower overall.

I hope this makes sense.

Graham.

Hello,

You're right but it quite hard to get the correct information from
manufacturers. I mean, the real toner capacity.
Nevertheless I hink I will try to check for toner prices to avoid "bad
surprises".

Thanks!

Most popular toner cartridges are pretty cheap, and if you learn to refill
your own then it's even much cheaper or you can get the refill kit for
around $10-20 depending where you buy from. Like I just got 2-packs High
Yield (6000 pages) refill toner for my Brother laser printer for $17 + $5
S/H.

I'm back from the computer store with a brand new Canon LBP 1210.
After a few tries, it looks like printing fast with a nice quality.
As you said, I'll try to fill the cartridges myself even if the genuine are
quite cheap 70euros.

Thanks for tour help!

The bigger printers are the ones with the lowest cost per page if you
are printing thousands of pages/month, so it really depends on how
much you print. Used HP 4 or 5-series (not "L" models) can be a good
deal, and print economically if you use recycled toner carts.
