Choosing a new shell... possible?

I'm just a little curious: Is it possible to use a shell other than explorer.exe in Windows XP? Like how I used Program Manager (progman.exe) when I had windows 98. There's no longer a shell entry in system.ini.

This has been moved to the Registry at
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows
NT\CurrentVersion\Winlogon\Shell

Thanks, when I searched Yahoo! it kept giving me pages for shell extensions... so many shell extensions

Shenan Stanley: Before, in Windows 98, I modified the system.ini file to load a different shell, just like I did in Windows 3.1

I know this, but it is not a "documented in the manual" feature... That is
my point.
You had to search to find out how to do that and then search to find the
shells. The same search that is required now. =)

Hope the pages I sent you helped. They contain many shells and links to
other pages with shells as well as opinions and screenshots of the shells.
