Is there any way to make sure that when I use Search
Companion (in XP) the results will include a Date Modified
Column? I know you can do this by using "Choose Details"
under View --- but you have to do that EACH TIME you use
Search Companion. It doesn't get saved for the next search.

Thanks in advance,

Everything else is saving just fine. It's as if there's something
different about the Search Companion Explorer window....

There isn't anything different (it's a hidden and special folder, that never shows, on your desktop).

Try Tools - Folder Options - View - Reset All Folders. If that doesn't help try Apply To All Folders which applies that to the various System Defaults (one for folders and one for the type of folder and one to all saved setting).

There a more involved fix that can be done with registry editing but this does 1/2 of the reg edit and is often enough.

Thanks for the suggestions, David, but I tried both changes and
neither worked. I'm not afraid to edit the registry. Should we try
that?

thanks,

Rob

Delete this

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\ShellNoRoam

Reset already deleted
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\ShellNoRoam\Bags

Anything here is saved folder settings or stuff stored here as a cache (so it will just go and get it all again).

I tried the regedit changes and still no cigar.

Did I do it right?

I deleted:

HKEY CURRENT USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\ShellNoRoam

After that, I didn't find:
HKEY CURRENT USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\ShellNoRoam\Bags
because the first delete deleted that too.

Did I miss something?

Rob

Okay, I got it to work, but here's how: I created a whole new user
account and then it worked. I had to switch over to using that account
as my new default login but it only took an hour to make the
change....
