Chkdsk

Upon start-up my computer tries to run CHkdsk, but it never completes it and runs in a loop until I skip the scan. Also, I frequently get corrupt file messages asking me then to run Chkdsk. Also, when I try to defragment my hard drive it tells me that "Disk Defragmenter has detected that Chkdsk is scheduled to run on volume :(C:). Please run chkdsk/f." How do I run chkdsk? Please advise.

It appears that everytime I start my computer it tries to run the chkdsk utility. At about 60% complete the screen flashes all blue with an error message that just stays on screen for a second then it starts all over again with the chkdsk utility. I was thinking of just rebuilding my hard drive to try and fix the problem
Let my know what you think
