For a couple of months now I have been unable to use
CHKDSK, when I try and do chkdsk C:/x or chkdsk C:/f,
nothing happens, I have even tried this in safe mode but
nothing happens.
If I restore my PC to a previous time should this solve
the problem. I have had Windows XP for only 6 months, and
have never used "restore". What does "restore" actually
do, will it delete any files or programs that I have added
since the restore point?
Thanks,
John

System Restore will take your computer 'back' to the point you choose. It
will not lose documents, pictures, videos etc, but any programs installed
between the point and now may have to be reinstalled. If you are running an
NTFS drive, you cannot perform a chkdsk from within Windows. It will run at
the next startup before Windows loads.
