CHKDSK Question

If I do Start>Run>CHKDSK, I get a 3 stage operation that takes about a
minute to run. If I go to My Computer>Right click Local Disk
C>Properties>Tools>Error Checking, I have a 5 stage program that takes about
45 minutes to run. What exactly are the different properties of these two
programs?

Also, in Local Disk C Properties, General Tab, Compress Drive is unchecked
and Indexing is checked. Is this a favorable choice?

They do the same. Type chkdsk in help and look for /r
