CHKDSK over and over again

What could be causing my Win2K / SP4 system to run CHKDSK all the
time? When it runs everything seems OK except it repairs Usr Journals,
whatever they are. Half the time it BSODs when it reboots, something
about not being able to read the Registry. When that happens and I
cycle the power to restart it, it runs CHKDSK again and does the same
repair. Then it works just fine until the next reboot where it
sometimes happens all over again.

I must be doing something to cause this, so I need to know in general
what it might be.

The drive may have failed. Download and run a diagnostic utility from the
drive manufacturer's web site. Check Event Viewer for errors and Device
Manager for errors and or non-starting devices.

I have three new WD 80 GB drives. I have Kingwin KF-23 removable bays.
I swap them around. They all require running CHKDSK.

What is "usr journal"? What would be corrupting it?

Do you have Linux using a journalized file system?

The disk may be damaged. You should be able to download a disk diagnostic
utility from the drive manufacturer's web site.
