Captain

Till a few days back, whenever I used to run chkdsk on my c drive (NTFS),
after checking the two; 'Automatically fix file system errors' & 'Scan for
and attempt recovery of bad sectors' options, a text file names 'bootex' was
generated in c drive after the complete scan before the window loaded, which
would contain the details of chkdsk. I don't know what happened but
suddenly, windows has stopped generating the 'bootex' text file. I have
tried to search it everywhere. Maybe some settings needs to be readjusted.
Can someone tell me as to what am I missing?

It used to generate it every time, whether there was a problem or not,
infact it would contain the details of chkdsk, its not there anymore. I
guess something is wrong with my pc, I just noticed, that clicking on Help
and Support in the start menu wouldn't do anything, a process named
'helpctr.exe' starts in the task manager and just dies down, I have tried
looking in the event viewer, but haven't found the error. I even ran sfc
/scannow which completed successfully; the status is still the same. The
Could someone please help!

I got my help and support back, but the bootex problem is still there, I can
get to Application Event Viewer to see the chkdsk results, but I wonder why
the log/text file (bootexecute) has vanished all of a sudden, and I was
worried it might lead to other problems. Well, there must be a way to get it
back, especially when it is being reported in Application Event Viewer.
