WinXP Home - SP2
After a couple of hangs where I had to do a reset while Windows was
running, I decided to schedule chkdsk to run at start up using the
options in My Computer - right click on drive icon - properties - disk
maintenance - etc. - at start up it did its stuff and rebooted the
machine and ran again and rebooted the machine and ran again etc etc.
and I was stuck in a loop till I finally got into Safe Mode and stopped it.
There is obviously a better way of doing this.... can someone elighten
an XP novice as to what I should do to tidy up after a bad Windows
shutdown without getting into this loop? Should I use a command
prompt/Run etc?
I'm used to the old Win98SE way of doing things where Scandsk ran
automatically after a "bad" Windows shutdown but only once!
Many thanks
