Chkdsk Duration

Approximately how long is a CHKDSK supposed to take ?
The reason why I ask is that I bought a new computer
with a CoreDuo 6400 processor, 2 GB RAM, and I have trouble
with the S-ATA hard disk. The vendor claims the hardware is
OK, but as chkdsk takes more than two hours on a 260 GB
partition, I wonder if this is what one should expect.

Your advice much appreciated.

Sounds about right. That's the problem when checking big disks.
