.. I check for the options:

a. Automatically fix file system errors
b. Scan for and attempt recovery of bad sectors.

What I wanted to know is how do I know how many bad sectors have been
detected by chkdsk and where all are they located? Is there a way to find
out how much percentage of my HDD is damaged due to bad sectors?

Thanks

Thanks . I will look up perfect disk. What I also wanted to know is also how
do I know the results of check disk? Where does windows create a log file for
it ?

The results of the chkdsk scan are in the Event viewer.
Start > Run eventvwr.msc
under Applications look for Chkdsk in the source column, double click to
read the description.

I believe Wills suggestion will give you more information and answer your
original questions.

Sorry to seem stupid. But where do I find winlogon ? I used the search
function. DOuble clicked the multiple entries in winlogon in system 32, SP 1
etc, no result. Also it is not to be found in the administrative tools in the
control panel.
