*.chk files

Been meaning to ask for ages ...

If I run a CHKDSK and end up with some *.chk files (recovered file
fragments), is there anything I should be doing with them? The ony advice
I've ever seen is to delete them.

Is there some way of putting them back where they're supposed to be?

If I delete them, is some file somewhere missing something important?

Or is the level of redundancy in Windows such that I can spare a few pieces?
;-)

Best thing to do is look at them with some sort of text
viewer to see if they have anything you might want. They
are created when CHKDSK detects cross-linking and such.
CHKDSK makes both cross-linked files whole again by
following both links and restoring the files. What's
left over is usually put into a .CHK file. They are
useless actually.
