I replaced my stock chipset fan (crapped out) with a Vantec Iceberg
(copper) today. I hope it is reliable because the fan did not come with
a yellow connector wire (just red and black), hence AsusProbe cannot
monitor rpms.

Have you phoned Asus and asked for your replacement fan ?
Asus will replace the fan, without doing an RMA. At least
up to this point they have been doing it. With the new Asus
fan in place, there will be no arguments about warranty in
the future.

Does anyone have a picture of the new hsf that Asus is sending out?
I bought my motherboard this month and don't know if it's the new
one or not. Mine says "Asus" on two sides of the heatsink.

I took the fan out of the stock hsf and glued it on top of a Zalman

There was this comment in a Newegg review entry by a customer:

"Built my first computer using this motherboard so can't compare
to others. However, the chipset fan started making noise and wasn't
running at the normal 8-9000rpm. Phoned Asus and they sent me a
replacement within a week. This one is a little larger and has
to be installed at a 45 degree angle. Also, it runs 5443rpm and
is much quieter than stock."

The replacement runs slower than the original.

When you phone Asus, you'll likely need to give them the serial
number to get your fan.

That's a good idea. I am going to use the same Zalman but
had heard that it still needs some air flow with the
nForce4.

These super thin HSF that directly attach the fan to the
hottest part of the heatsink is just asking for trouble.
The heat simply dries out the lubrication. The fan should
be attached to the tips of the heatsink where it is cool.

I bought a rather hefty jetart all copper cooler but the
fan was dead in 2 weeks simply because they attached it
directly above where the core contacts the heatsink.
