In an earlier post, I was advised to download SiSoft's
Sandra Demo software to find out which manufacturer's
chipset drivers I have in my HP Pavilion zt1130 laptop. I
have done that, but I don't see the two names I was told
it would be one of. What I see is:

Chipset 1
Model - H-P Co VT8605 ProSavage PM133 System Controller

(This is on the Mainboard Information)

Am I looking in the right place? I'm supposed to find
either Via or Ali - don't see anything like either.

Thanks in advance

You should visit the HP support website to obtain the
latest drivers for your HP laptop computer.

Go to Hp,enter youre pavilion nos in download software/
drivers section,once thats established,look for,what
ships in box for info.If the pavilion is over 6 mos old
intel is probably the chipset mfg,go to download drivers,
chipset section, download the chipset id utility. Its
really nothing more than that, actually download it,open,
it will tell if intel is installed or not, theres no
program or software installed.About 100% safe,even w/o
intel installed, also,hp will not have any drivers,soft-
ware, etc.a update to the BIOS is all thier good for.

Thank you both. I did try the HP live support, but IE
closed down for some error reason while they were
supposedly examining my system. Then, of course, Windows
update came on - I'm now downloading SP 1, and I think
there are about 48 others updates, as could be expected.
Will go back to HP for the chipset or any other updates
when the Windows XP updates are done.

I bought the computer a year and a half ago, and it was
reconditioned, so right now it's way behind on everything.
I did update the bios because I had earlier run into
unexpected shut-down problems, and the HP-NG had mentioned
the bios likely needed updating. I'm trying to get
everything up to date *before* I reinstall 18 months'
worth of software, their updates, and files. No joy.
