Could you, please, help me to find out what I need to do
to use these characters sets in Outlook subject line, and
also in From and Reply-to addresses in English Windows XP
version? Thank you

Not only do you need to have added the language support for
Office/Outlook, it'll also help to have Chinese language support for
Windows.

Which version Windows and Outlook are you using?

Sorry. My mistake for not noticing you are using English Windows.

Have you also enabled East Asian Languages support under Windows XP? If
not, you can add it through Control Panel>Regional and Languages
Options>Languages. Make sure you have the Windows CD ready. After
reboot, and the characters are still not displayed properly, go back to
Regional and Language Options again and this time go to Advanced page,
select your default Chinese encoding. Unfortunately, you can only
select either Simplified or Traditional, not both.

Another issue with this setup is that some program installers
(especially Windows Installer) mistake your Windows to be a Chinese
version and use Chinese Language during setup (if available).

Not true. I'm using English Windows XP and I have full Chinese text
support in the From, To, Cc fields and subject line.

Works on Outlook 2000 and 2002.

Alright. I believe I saw this somewhere but I can't find it anymore. As I
don't have a Chinese OS I can't check it so I just have to believe you ;-)

I missed one step in Outlook.

You need to change your default encoding for your outgoing email to
Traditional or Simplified Chinese. In Outlook 2002, it's
Tools>Options>Mail Format. Click the button International Options and
change the Preferred encoding for outgoing messages.

Hi PHiLiP,

Thanks for the attachment. I see what you mean now and where our minds
crossed. I thought you were talking about the actuall "From:", "To:", etc
itself (which can't be changed) and not the content of those fields (which
can be changed).

The attachment cleared my confusion :-)
