I have inserted a subform to show one record, but 15
fields of that record. As the master form changes
records, the subform doesn't. Is something set wrong?

Also, what is the bar on left side of subform called?
I'd like it not to appear on the the subform.

Open the outer form in Design view, select the subform control, and open the
Properties window. The Link Master property should contain the name(s) of
the related field(s) in the outer form (separated by semicolons if more than
one), and the Link Child property should contain the name(s) of the linking
field(s) in the form contained within the subform control.

The bar on the left is the Record Selector. Set that property to No in the
form inside the subform control.
