Hello everybody

I need to move about 500 users from main.domain.com to
child.main.domain.com.

What is the easiest, painless and safest way to do it?

Thanks a lot.

PS: How would I move computers too?

Sanjeev,

This has been asked and answered twice already. I would say that you should
not post this question anymore.

Sanjeev,

You posted the original question on 9/13 at 1:52 AM ( Eastern Time ). Simon
answered at 4:02 AM ( about 2 hours and 10 minutes later ). You then posted
the exact same question with the same Subject line at 5:38 AM ( Eastern
Time ). I responded to this at 7:28 AM in which I informed you that Simon
answered this already - Active Directory Migration Tools v2 and / or
movetree.exe. Apparently you missed that one as well.

If you have posted a question and are not able to find it then you can
simply do a search for either the subject line ( assuming that you remember
what it was! ) or for your name.

Posting the same question three times is generally frowned upon. It gets
too complicated for people to follow.

So, now to your question:

You have two issues here. They are that 1) you need to migrate users from
one domain to another and 2) folder access should be 'limited'.

So, to answer your first part: you would use ADMT v2 or moveusers.exe. I
think that you have done this already and Tomasz is helping you with that
issue.

Now, to answer your second part: take a look at both the Share and NTFS
permissions. You do not need to worry about the trusts as they will be
there already.

HTH,

Cary

can the same thing be achieved using OUs? if yes then how to go about it?

Thanks in advance....
Sanjeev...
