I downloaded Vista 5728 with a free download manager. How do I check the
file for accuracy if I didn't use the download manager on the Vista download
page?

verify the MD5 sum against that given.

You check the hash that is listed on the download page. It makes no
difference how you download the file. I use the free program HashCalc
from SlavaSoft to calculate the hash of the download. It works on XP,
probably on Vista also.

Thank You SAM-R, I ran HashCalc (Thanks to David Wilkinson) and it gave me
a CRC32 value of 94243215 so I guess that matches the number given below.
I'll have a little more confidence in my finished DVD now.

The hash just confirms that the download is good; it says nothing about
whether the burn was good.

Yes I know that this has nothing to do with checking the finished DVD but I
know you can't burn a good DVD with a corrupt ISO file. (Garbage in Garbage
out rule) But I have downloaded a bad ISO with MS's download manager that
they offer on their download page.

I haven't had any problems burning any of the versions of Vista to a DVD and
the default speed selected by my burning software. I have an 8X LiteOn DVD
burner and Sonic My DVD software.
