could some one please tell me the easiest way to check
what ports I have set up for what, I have been told that
it is possible to disable a port as to reduce the
potential of being hacked.
I have receently installed a sygate firewall.

KM is correct about netstat because it's built in (and always
there on NT+ with IP loaded.)

I like FPort from FoundStone.Com -- it's free and gives you
FILE PATHS to the process' exe location.

Consider a firewall -- Agnitum Outpost Firewall FREE version
or the purchase version is quite affordable.

You can also "stealth" your ports using IPSec filters (built-in
to Win2000+).

To check your open ports from OUTSIDE go to
http://grc.com and visit ShieldsUP
