checking if printer is ready

Not as far as I'm aware. Nor will it respond to there being no paper,
paper jam, no ink/toner/ribbon etc.

However, it may not be that important as the report will go into the
job queue for a networked printer and will, eventually, appear on the
printer when it IS ready.
