Checking for Windows Version

I have a ActiveX Control that gets installed in
either "C:\Windows\System32" or "C:\WinNT\System32"
depending on the operating system.

How would I check what version of Windows is running so I
can the add reference programmatically?

Or is there a system variable that always points to the
System32 folder?
