One of the most annoying things about OE is the box that pops up in the
middle of whatever you are working in telling you it is checking for
messages. Does anyone have any idea how to get rid of this?

Thanks in advance!

Make sure that Details are showing and double click the pushpin in the lower
right corner to unpin it.

Hi,
OE> Tools> Options> General> Check for new messages every __ minutes. Choose
a longer interval.

Hope this helps,

The longer interval will make it come up less, but it still comes up.

The pushpin seems to only keep it (or not) on the screen. It sounds as if
it is an annoyance that you have to live with...

Thanks for the replies.

This question is about OE - the newsgroup you posted to is for IE.

Where is this pop up? Is it coming from the system tray (notification area
of the taskbar) as a balloon or is it a stand-alone pop-up box?

In OE's Tools...Options...General tab, make sure the "If my computer is not
connected" drop down box is set to "Do not connect", and on the Connection
tab, make sure the top two boxes are unchecked. I never get a "checking for
new mail" notification box pop up with those settings.

If no joy, follow up to the group(s) mentioned above.
