Checkboxes in Access 97

On occasion, I wish to use a check box in a form. When creating the table I
selected the "yes/no" data type. When I create a test form from this table it
will display the field as a check box. However, all by itself, it later
decides to change it to a drop down box for "yes" or "no". I want a check
box. I've tried right clicking the field in design view then clicking on
"Change to", but the check box selection is grayed out. How do I get my check
box back? Thanks in advance.

Delete the control, and use the Toolbox Wizard to add a new one.

It didn't change on its own, I'm sure - could someone else have been
changing your form? Or might you have done so and forgotten that you
did?

Thank you John. I'm sure I didn't change the control. There are in fact 12
check boxes that changed in this form. It would be hard to "forget" that I
did that. <S> This is not the first database in which this has happened. I
deleted the test form, edited the table to add additional fields, then
manually sorted the fields. When I created a new test form, the check boxes
had changed to drop down boxes. I can't figure out why the "change to"
selectio for check boxes is grayed out when I try to correct it. I will take
your advice. Thanks again.

Ok... that's a little less scary. I thought you had created a form
with checkboxes, closed it, read the newsgroups, surfed the web,
reopened the form and they'd all changed - which would be VERY wierd.

If you're creating a new form, that's different! Don't know why the
default control type changed but...
