i have an NT DHCP assigning IP's and all other TCP settings to clients.
in the DHCP scope strangely i see the ip or our exchange server as a Router.
i did not setup the network so i dont know why its there.
the clietns get the ip of the all three routers, and the ip of the exchange
server.
how can i check whcih ip the clients are using to get to the internet.
i tried a trace but didnt get the ip.
Thanx

Hmm, it should do? If I do a tracert to something like www.yahoo.com, the
first hop on the list is my default gateway?

i have three gateways, on the workstation.
first is the exchange server ip
second is the gateway of the router connecting LAN1 to LAN2.
and third is the gateway connecting to the internt.
when i trace an ip from LAN 1 to LAN2 i get the routers external ip then the
ip of the router at the other end.

when i trace an internt ip i get the ISP's ip, which im assuming is the
external ip of the gateway router.

so i cant really tell if its the router forwarding or the exchange server.
i want to remove the exchange servers ip. so in order to make sure its not
forwarding to the internet.
i will remove it and see waht happens
thanx for your help

Sounds a bit complex! Normally you would only need one gateway as such - the
exchange server address you would just specify in your mail application. As
for the Lan 1 > Lan 2 bit, we have simimlar here, and I just have a static
route on the workstation to forward everything destined to Lan 2 to the
relevant router. The actual "default gateway" is then the internet router
and basically catches everything else
