Check the power supply of a computer

After replacing the mainboard and processor of my PC (both where
broken), formatting the computer and new installation of XP I still get
bluescreens while working with it.

In the hardware management there are no conflicts between the components.

I think that the power supply is not big enough for the components that
are installed.

Is there a freeware to check how much power the power supply needs
and/or if there are hardware conflicts the hardware management can't see?

Thanks.

Marco

Your motherboard manual should tell you what power supply is sufficient.
However, if it is running then I would suspect either a hardware/driver
conflict, or software error.

Without knowing what these blue screen's are actually saying, it is a little
difficult to narrow it down for you.

That's the problem, the errors differ from time to time!

Mostly I get:
IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL
or
DRIVER_IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL

The files that are listed differ from time to time. It seems that all
have something to do with network and/or internet connection.

That what I found in internet didn't help me to solve the problem!

If the problems are generally related to the network and/or internet, then
have you tried removing the network adapters/cards and internet connections
(modem, DUN etc) and re-installing them?

The IRQ errors suggest either a conflict, or invalid IRQ setting. These can
be checked in the device manager;

Right click My Computer > Properties > Device Manager

Look for any device with a yellow apostrophe or red X and remove it.......
then re-boot your computer and re-install the device. (make sure you have
the drivers for the devices before removing them).

The problem is that I can't see any hardware conflicts! I'll read the
motherboard manual to see if there's an information abotu the power supply!

I was getting those error messages with my machine here running XP Pro
on a AMD XP1600 and an Epox 8k3a board. I changed out the power
supply from a 300 watt to a 420 watt supply. I have not received
either of those error messages or a blue screen since I changed it,
and that has been 6 months now.
I'd suspect that you would find the same if you upgraded your power
supply.

Thank you for your answer, just what I supposed. That's I supposed so
I'll upgrade to a higher power supply!
