check sum error

hi,my pc stalls on start up and says checksum error f1 to
continue del to enter setup if i continue it changes the
date and time to december 2000 2300hrs(before it was made)
this may not be related but it started happening after
removal of the aupdate parasite(or maybe its not all gone)
any help would be great,thanks in advance.neil

I suspect you need to replace the motherboard's cmos battery.
