check disk

Windows XP Home: At startup "check disk" comes on every
time and takes a very long time! Also "defragment" takes
about 3 hours. Help!!

To cancel a scheduled run of chkdsk:
1.Go to Start\Run and enter cmd
2.Enter "chkntfs /x c:" no quotes

Defrag time is hard disk size dependent.
