"Cheap solar power poised to undercut oil and gas by half"

Quite an interesting article, although a little optimistic I suspect. I'd love to see consumer level solar power generation, but at the minute it is just so expensive (and not cost effective!).

It would be great if they could make solar roof tiles as cheaply as they claim :thumb:

Solar power is great, imo :)

Only drawback is initial outlay, it takes years to recoup installation cost.

However, if the private sector spent money promoting it and mass producing solar panels, I reckon they'd open up a huge market and the price would reduce.

But there again, I ain't no businessman a la 'The Financial Times'

I still reckon it's viable though.

30 years ... gawed, I'll be dead in another 30years.

Quite simply, the cost would have fallen 20years ago if the government just got off their asses by giving house builders an incentive to build houses with the damn things already fitted. Or is that just too simple to do? They probable could not figure out how much "red-tape" was needed.

I would certainly buy a house that cost a few bob more and have great pleasure sticking up two fingers at the Power companies ...
