Cheap Software?

Because it's made by McAfee.

I wouldn't have any McAfee software even if they paid me.

Seriously, because McAfee has come out with Internet Security Suite 2006.

Internet Security Suite 2005 is last years model.

Did you click on the 'buy now' button?.. $5.99 gets you a download version
(no original McAfee CD).. for an extra $4.99, you also get a backup CD (no
original McAfee CD)..

This tells you that you are getting NO PROOF that you have legally purchased
a version of McAfee Internet Security 2005.. a backup CD is NOT an original
McAfee CD.. it is a copy and probably a very cheap copy, and this assumes
that the buyer even gets one sent..

Also, McAfee released their 2006 version on September 20 of this year, so
version 2005 is 'old hat' anyway..

a lot of the stuff is old ... Corel Draw 9 is pretty darn old.
site sorta looks legit...probably OEM stuff, overstock, left overs maybe???

Interesting note on the site, too. They say that the download version won't
copy correctly to a CD, so if you download on one computer with the
intention of copying to a CD and installing elsewhere, it's not going to
work. Something about how their installer works. Makes me wonder if their
installer is bundled with extra presents.

From the website
Why is the software so inexpensive?
We offer software for downloading only, it means that you do not
receive a fancy package, a printed manual and license that actually
aggregate the largest part of the retail price. In this situation we are
restricted in selling the products for private purposes only! Because of ESD
( Electronic Software Delivery) there is no need for us to operate a large
warehouse or store shelves and shelves of products. This is the the future
of software delivery, as there really is no need for boxes and paper when it
comes to software.

[[...and license that actually aggregate the largest part of the retail
price.]]

Those dang licenses really drive prices up. ;-)

This is the the future of pirated software delivery.

Look at the depicted box at the suspicious site. It's red. Now look at the
packaging shown at
http://us.mcafee.com/root/package.asp?pkgid=144&cid=12155. It's black.
They're dumping an old version. Notice they never declare WHICH version you
are getting.

Looks like they are selling the CD-R media. What would you pay for a CD-R
slide into a commercial-looking box but doesn't include a license to
actually use anything recorded on that CD-R? Like MAP said in his reply
regarding what their policy says, "... you do not
receive a fancy package, a printed manual and license ...". Yeah, without a
license, what you got was pirated software to fill up some disk space.
Enjoy.

Not to mention that are you're not
getting a license or support. You
won't even be be getting a cheap
knock-off CD.

The manufacturer's "fancy" box not
only includes media; it includes a
legal license to use the product;
access to support; and it represents
the manufacturer's profit to cover
developmental and operational
expenses.

As they say, you get what you
pay for.

I also went to this site via froogle.google.com purchased a product
while at work, then when I got home and d/l it, I knew something was
wrong.

I am looking into filing a suit against them, or at the very least
informing a few of the companies who software is being sold on the
site. I'm out $40 and will be putting a stop on my credit card asap.
Has anyone else made a purchase from this site? It needs to be taken
down. I like to get what I pay for... and I didn't think crap cost $40.

You fail to state which site.. and have you ever heard the expression
'Caveat Emptor'?
