Chassis intrution problem

I just purchased an P4C800-e Deluxe and assembled it this week. I just put
the side cover on this morning and low and behold I get an error message at
post. "Chassis Intruded!" and the system just stops. The only way to get
around this is to open the side cover again and start it. There is no option
(that I have found), to suppress this feature other then I suppose to just
unplug the switch.

Anyone have any insight regarding this?

You can put the jumpers back over the chasis intrusion pin on the mobo
so it is not activated. I have not been able to get chasis intrusion
working so in the end i had to reset the jumpers to it is disabled
otherwise i also got the same post message on power up. Looking at the
pins on the mobo they are not quite in the same orientation as the
manual says so i wonder if this is a general problem with the p4c800

By default, when you get the motherboard, the two "chassis" pins are
jumpered together. I take it, this means "no intrusion". The chassis
switch, as a result, should be normally closed (NC). If you have an
intrusion switch on your case, see if it has three terminals, then
select the common terminal and the NC terminal and connect them
to the CHASSIS header, in place of the jumper. If your case doesn't
have an option like this, or doesn't have a chassis switch, just
put the jumper back on, as shown in the manual (Item 7 in mobo
picture).

Microswitches (leaf spring touching a plunger, mounted on top of
a black rectangular body) have three terminals. One is common,
and the other two are NC (normally closed) and NO (normally open).
In this case, you want the NC and COM terminals, to make an
intrusion switch.
