charting 'NA',

A user has a chart, which charts montly data.

This month, there was no data... 0 of 0 items, in one
chart.

So, the question is, can I make the chart show NA in it's
data table?

when the function =na() is used in the source data, the
data table of the chart shows as blank.

When a text string or an actual 0 is used, of course it
shows 0.

Is there any way to get the data table to present text, or
the function NA?

The user's only other idea is to hand put in a text box
object, on the chart.

Excel's chart data table feature isn't very flexible, as you're finding
out. You can type something in the cell besides the NA error, for
example, text that says N.A. But that causes the data point to plunge to
zero.

I usually don't use a data table, but instead make a table in the cells
near the chart. I can put whatever data into it that I want, and
formatting is more flexible.

Another option is to make your table in a worksheet, copy it as a
picture (hold Shift and click on the Edit menu, and Copy turns to Copy
Picture), and paste this into the chart. You'll have to adjust the chart
elements to make room.

Yeah, I knew it wasn't, in some respects.

But thought I'd ask.

Thanks for the suggestions.
