I am trying to make a two y axis chart. The primary y axis is a stacked bar
graph. I would like the 2nd y axis to be a line chart.
1. How can this be done so that the line graph appears in the same chart as the
bar graph?
2. How can this be done if the bar graph is 3d?

TIA

Peter -

1. Make the chart first with all series as stacked bars (or do you mean columns?).
Select the one you want to change, choose Chart Type from the Chart menu, and choose
the Line style you want.

2. 3D charts cannot be used as part of a combination chart. IMNSHO, this is another
fine reason to avoid using the pseudo-3D charts.

Thanks for your reply.
In this chart the 2nd axis is on a completely different scale than the other
data.
On Axis 1 the scale starts at seven million and goes up from there. On axis 2
the range is between 20 and 30. The x axis is a timeline.
When I tried your suggestion the entire chart turned into a line chart. Did I do
something wrong?
Do you know of any third party charting program that would do what I need?

To change just one series, you have to select just the one series, then go to Chart
menu > Chart Type. If you select the entire chart, everything will change.

Excel will do what you want, unless you really want the 3D effects. My advice is to
drop the 3D effects, as they can lead to misunderstanding and misrepresenting the
data in the chart.
