Chart labeling issues

I am trying to find out if anyone else has had problems
with using data labels and there staying where you put
them. I have a chart that I am duel rating values with
metric equivalents. (There is no way that I can find to
set this automatically) So I use data labels and set them
in a location next to the gridline value. The next time
I open the chart to do something with it the values have
moved.

Does anyone have a work around?

Are you using data labels, which are associated with a data point
plotted in the chart, or text boxes, which float on the breeze?

If you have labels that you absolutely need to stay put, with respect to
the X and Y axes, use a dummy series with points at each XY location you
need a label, format the points to be invisible (no markers and no
lines), and use one of these free addins to position labels on the data
points. Use the Center position option.

I don't know what you mean by Secondary Chart Legend. A chart either has
a legend or not, and that legend contains legend entries for series on
the primary and secondary axes.

Unless you mean Secondary Axis. I know people have problems with charts
reformatting themselves, usually in inappropriate directions at
inopportune times. I haven't had much problem with this, maybe because I
change the formats of every aspect of every chart I make. It seems
that Excel has more trouble keeping the default things fixed.
