I am trying to create a combined stacked and cluster
column charts. How can I do this? It seems to prefer one
type or the other, not both.

Thanks.

I assume you are asking about Excel and NOT PowerPoint? To create two sets
of data with separate chart types on the same graph, try this:

1. Select your two sets of data and create your chart using one of the chart
types desired.
2. Right-click the second series of data on your chart and click "Format
data series".
3. Click on the "Axis" TAB and check "Secondary Axis". Click OK to close
out.
4, Right-click again on your second series and click "Chart type". Change
it to the type you want.

Joila! You have two different chart types on the same graph!

Bill's description of the process works for most types of combination
charts that XL allows. Unfortunately, not for a combination of stacked
and cluster column charts.

For how to make that happen, see Bernard Liengme's
http://www.stfx.ca/people/bliengme/ExcelTips/Columns.htm which also has
a reference to Stephen Bullen's site.
