Character spacing has changed to zero

While trying to adjust margins for a special label print, I managed to screw
up character spacing. Essentially character as typing on top of each other.
Vewing the format screens, everything appears normal. Margins also apear to
be normal. When I open an exisitng file, some text is corrent and other is
compressed. In others each paragraph appears and a short black marker bolch.

By going to tthe syles menu I can get different styles to show, but changes
cause the formatting to revert to zero spacing, ie changing bold to no bold.

According to contributor Bob Buckland: "It's a bug that somehow seems to
have Word misreading temporary files related to the printer currently in
use. You can usually 'unscramble' the display from File=>Print and switch
to the printer properties or to another printer then your normal one, or
close Word and delete all files found on Start=>Search and looking for
~$*.*;*.tmp as the name string then restarting Word." See also
