I have a problem with a search toolbar that popped up on
my comp awhile ago. I cant seem to get rid of it, and I
dont know how to access the startup items, like you could
in W98. Anyone have an idea?

Thanks, Pete

Accessing startup items in XP is very similar to Win98. Start> Run>
MSCONFIG is available. RUN keys in the registry are present as well.

Suggestions for removal:
Check Add/Remove Programs for an uninstall option. May need to start in
Safe Mode to uninstall and/or prune this addition and its components out of
your setup.

Identify the toolbar and research what is known about it. You may find
removal directions posted at its website. You may find information at other
websites that the toolbar is adware, spyware or malware of some kind. Read
up and check out removal info at those sites too.

If you are worried that not so obvious extras were missed, use anti-spyware
software such as AdAware from Lavasoft or Spybot Search and Destroy - to
get rid of them.
