changing Workgroup name

I have two computers that are connected to the Internet with a
wireless router.
The name of the network was MSHOME.
I changed it to something else on both computers, but the shared
drives don't show up on the other computer.

Both computers will still connect to the Internet, but not to each
other.

I ran network setup wizard and it asked for a Workgroup again and I
entered the new one.

What could I be doing wrong?

Thanks

The router should also be changed to the same workgroup - I'll bet. How
'bout your firewall? Change it too?

Jerry, I've never seen a router or a firewall that lets you configure
a workgroup name. If you have, please say which ones they are. I
don't see how the workgroup name could be relevant to them.

Terry, workgroup names serve no real purpose in Windows XP. A
computer in any workgroup can access a computer in any workgroup.

I assume that you're trying to access the other computer through My
Network Places. Instead, try accessing the other computer by typing
the other computer's name in the Start > Run box in this format:

\\computer

It turned out to be my firewall. I assume what happened is when I
changed my workgroup F-Secure changed my trusted network adapter back
to none.

Thanks for you time.

Last time I checked ZoneAlarm requires you to input the workgroup.

Thanks for that information, Jerry.

I can't find any mention of specifying a workgroup name on the
www.zonealarm.com or www.zonelabs.com web sites or in the ZoneAlarm
User Guide:

http://download.zonelabs.com/bin/media/pdf/zaclient70_user_manual.pdf

When ZoneAlarm detects a new network, you have the option of assigning
a name to that network. However, the name can be anything you want.
The name doesn't have any significance, and it doesn't have to be the
same as the workgroup name.
