It is possible to change the color of a windows folder
and its name?

In otherwords, looking at a long list of folders on my C
drive, is it possible to change the folder color or just
the color of the folder name to say red so it stands out
as a folder I go to quite often?

change folder icons in properties window..
if you use folder quite often create shortcut on desktop
or in favorites-links directory.

i use entire screen width toolbar with favorites-links
with link-folders and different icons for each link.

XP works like 98/2000. However the dialog has been removed. The easy way is to install this program
http://www.clonesoft.com/shareware/index.htm

These settings are stored in a text file called desktop.ini in the folder customised. You can copy from 98/2000 to XP but view them first and remove extra settings.

I haven't encountered any way to change the color of folders in
multiples, just one at a time, and I've used downloaded folder icons
for the purpose. A collection called Foldericons is fairly zippy.

There's a 38K freeware utility called Nirext.zip which adds a
right-click option to change the folder appearance, works more
conveniently than the one that comes with XP. The website shown in the
readme is http://nirsoft.mirrorz.com Incidentally, an icon doesn't
have to be designated as intended for folders in order to be used as a
folder icon - it all seems pretty much equal opportunity.
