When I get more than website on the taskbar the screen changes from one to
the other. When I can get 5 or 6 websites on the taskbar the computer
eventually goes crazy and the screen changes between the sites on the
taskbar
I probably haven't explained it very well but can anyone help please

Right-click on your Desktop Internet Explorer icon and select:
Properties > Advanced and 'uncheck' "Reuse windows for launching shortcuts",
then click "Apply".

I'm hoping these windows are all for websites that you have opened. It's
possible that the pages are refreshing (possibly with new ads) and when the
page update is complete, it jumps to the forefront. One thing you might try
is using the "focus" settings in TweakUI for XP. After installing TweakUI,
look under its "General" category. Check the box next to "prevent
applications from stealing focus" and then choose which notification method
you want used to alert you of an updated window.

TweakUI for XP is one of the power toys that can be found here:
http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/downloads/powertoys/xppowertoys.mspx

I said Tweak UI fixed the problem, it did for 5 -10 minutes. As soon as I
replied on OE it started changing websites again. Any other ideas?

TweakUI (or a similar tweaking program) is the only way I know of to stop
windows from stealing focus. The only other thing I can think of is that
you're inadvertently pressing Alt+Tab which cycles through open windows.
This would cycle through all windows though - not just IE windows
displaying websites. Another thought, if you have a multi-button mouse,
perhaps there is a button that is assigned to "back" or task switching that
is stuck.

Also -- if these pages are showing a very large number of ads (not the
pages that you had originally selected), malware may be responsible. Check
the system with an up to date anti-spyware program such as AdAware from
www.lavasoftusa.com. It wouldn't hurt to check the system with a scan by an
antivirus program that is using current virus definitions files too.

Thanks for replying again, since I used tweak UI for most of the time it's
OK, occassionally the screen starts changing. It's a problem I can live
with. I already tried lavasoft adware and I have Norton antivirus. Thanks
for help as it's a lot better now
