Have recently installed XP.
set up accounts for son & daughter.
am on dial-up.
whenI change accounts the other user (son or daughter) cannot access the
internet without shutting down and redialling, even though the indications
are that I am still connected.
How can I change this so that I do not have to shut down every time we
change users?
All help appreciated. Thanks

How you are changing user? Is it by Start - Log Off - and then Log Off. If
this is so, I am not sure but dial-up will disconnect by this way.

Are you not using Switch User from Log Off menu? If not, then give it a try.
Log on to one account, connect the internet, click Start - Log Off - Switch
User then log on to second account, access the internet.

If you are already doing the same then let us know that how you are sure
that the connection remain connected after you log on to another user.

Let us know!

Here we go.
I've tried -start-log off then log off. the computer asks if you want to
disconnect but of course we don't want to and we say so.
I've tried switch user from the start menu. log on to one account, connect
the internet, click Start-Log off_ Switch User, then log on to second
account, access the internet. Computer again asks if you want to keep the
internet connection open and I say yes.
I know for sure that the internet is still connected to the computer because
if you go to Status it says it is still connected and the time is ticking
away and also if you try to redial it says it is already connected so then
you have to disconnect and reconnect. It seems to be pot luck as to whether
we are able to switch user or not. sometimes we can, sometimes not. it is
most frustrating. Help please!
