Changing user folder name or account

I'm running Win2K Pro.

1) Is it possible to change the name of the folder associated with my
account?
For example, from:
c:\Documents and Setting\H.Debs to
c:\Documents and Settings\HDebs
(the '.' in the folder name causes problems with apps which use short
file names, causing another folder tree named c:\Documents and
Settings\H~2~DEB to be created if such an app needs to create a temp
file)

2) Or can I simply change my user account completely, preserving all
my old settings under the new account, and delete the old account?

Thanks for your help.

those folders within c:\docs and settings reflect the user profiles and are
created based on user names. your best bet is to create the user account,
HDebs and re-create the profile settings for that account.

i wouldnt reccoment copying the entire contents of the old profile directory
as im sure it contains files which reference the old user account.

Hi Wade,

Thanks for your help.

Isn't there a procedure to 'copy' or 'import' settings from my old
user account into a new user account in Win2000 Pro?

See Dave Patricks response to my same question as "user name vs
folders" (2/17)

It worked great for me, except I didn't realize all of my OE files
would be empty in the new username. (They are still fine in the old
username.) I know there is a way to fix that too. Just have to find
old notes from newgroup
