I have a workgroup (containing 1 Windows 98 computer and 1 XP computer). I
would like to change from a peer to peer network to a server based network .
I have a Windows 2000 server. How do I go about this?

Server based for two computers is a bit over the top - but I suppose I do
have two servers for 4 clients!

Basically, suck it and see. Find a computer, install 2000 server, follow
the setup wizards for active directory, and if/when you come unstuck, post
back!

Ha, that's like saying: "I have decided I would like to drive a car; help me
build one."

Your best bet is to get yourself a book on Windows 2000 Server and Active
Directory. Your individual circumstances will be too much to answer with 1
post. Read these forums along with the win2000.general newsgroup and read
what others are seeing to help you develop a Big Picture. Or, just stick the
Windows 2000 server CD in the drive and dive in. The standard options are
usually enough to get you started. Be prepared to scrap your install at any
time though as you recognize that you did something wrong or not the way you
wanted. Good Luck.

I recommend researching www.microsoft.com/technet before starting. It has very good info and step by step guides to show you how to build your first network. If your server is already built, try creating user and computer accounts, make sure all machines are on the same IP subnet, then join the workstations to the domain using the Network ID wizard in My Computer/Properties/Computer Name. Good luck.
