changing the task bar

I was wondering how to keep some of the icons on the task bar from coming up when the computer boots up. And I was wondering if you can help how to keep msn messenger and yahoo messenger from signing on as soon as the computer is booted up.

Open MSN and Yahoo Messengers, go to their properties and find and uncheck
the box titled "Start this program when Windows starts"

Hi Lisa,

a) Check for an option to not having the icon load in the System Tray via
the program(s) in question.

Other options for removal:

Go to Start/Run and type in: msconfig. Go to the Startup Tab and uncheck
accordingly. Then run this script to remove the disabled items from the
registry.

Clear Disabled Items from Msconfig Startup (Line 148)
