Changing the search page

How can I change the search page that is used by IE6 when I type in an
invalid URL into the address bar? I installed a program recently that
changed this page to something that I don't want it to be, and I can't
figure out how to get it back to what it was before.

Thanks,
Jesse

The crazy thing is that I've already been through this. I have checked
every place here that deals with the search page, and lots of others that
I've found while searching on the web. I'm pretty sure that it's a registry
entry somewhere, but I've changed all of them that I can find.

I'll check through this site again. I used SpyBot on my machine as soon as
I realized what had happened, and it removed a lot of junk, but it didn't
reset my search page. I've got LavaSoft too. I'll try that one.

Thanks,
Jesse

Another note. The site you mentioned only deals with coolwebsearch, which
isn't my problem. My search page has been hijacked by Lycos. It goes to
search.lycos.com any time I type in an invalid url, and I can't find this
ANYWHERE in my registry, EXCEPT the Typed URL's section. It's almost like
they're using a special program of some sort to keyboard the data into the
Address bar. I just can't seem to figure this out.

Any other hints?

Thanks,
Jesse

Just for your information and everyone else's information, I finally have
the problem fixed. The problem was actually a program called ClearSearch.
I sent an e-mail complaint to Lycos, and to my surprise, they actually
responded with the following link
http://www.clear-search.com/Software/ClrSchUninstall.exe. This program
uninstalled the ClearSearch from my computer, and I seem to be back to
normal now.

BTW, I tried the latest Spy Bot, and it didn't catch this problem, but the
latest version of Lava Soft's Ad-Aware 6, did catch this problem, and a lot
more. So, I highly recommend Ad-Aware 6.

Just wanted to pass this along, just in case anyone else has run into this
problem.
