I have a large presentation that has been put together by a number of people.
It consists of 12 master slides. I need to make the presentation
consistent. How can I replace some of the master slides with exising master
slides already in this presentation? The existing masters have been
customized.

Click on Format, Slid Design, select the master of your choice and apply to
all slides.

In addition to Mike's response, if you are using more than one
"existing customized masters" and only want to change some of the
slides you can select the slides you want to change and go to
Format/Slide Design/ then on the drop down arrow of the master you want
to change them to select "Apply to Selected Slides". If you need to
keep a couple of Masters because of the layout of the content, you can
also go into View/Masters/SlideMaster and then change the Slide design
on the ones you want to keep to give them the same look as your
"existing customized masters" by changing things to the same customized
background, font, and style but keeping the layout, if needed.
