Hi, I was wondering if anyone knows how to change the look
of an icon on the desktop of Windows 2000. For instance, I
created a folder called "Mom's files" on my desktop.
Instead of the normal yellow folder icon, I want something
else, either another windows-based icon or a picture. Can
this be done? I've tried everything I know but come up
with any answers.

Thanks

You could put the folder elsewhere, such as on a partition that does not
have your operating system on it, and then create a shortcut on the desktop
and change the icon of that.

Is the folder itself on the desktop, or do you have a shortcut to the
folder on the desktop? If it's a shortcut, you can right-click on it,
click Properties, and then Change Icon. If it's an actual folder,
changing the icon is a bit more work. Carrie Garth has posted
instructions for doing this. See
