Changing the length of clips

Is there a more accurate way to change the length of a clip than simply
clicking on the edge of the clip and dragging it? Every time i do this i can
never set it to the exact duration i'm after.

The only other way is to set the duration
*before* you add the clip/s to the timeline.
Tools / Options / Advanced tab.
