Hello,

Can anybody help me this or is this even possible? I have
a client, who when she opens up an attachment from
Outlook, in let's say Word, when she goes to the "Save As"
option it wants to save to the default security directory
setup by Outlook itself.

Now I did make the change as per the directions specified
in Microsoft Knowledge Base Article - 296115 and tried it
out. It would only treat the attachments as temp files
and as soon as I closed Outlook, it would remove these
files whether I saved them or not.

What I need to know is can I have any open attachment in
Outlook save to a specified folder of my choosing without
Outlook treating it as a temp file or do I have to specify
a folder each time for each attachment.

Any input would be much appreciated.

Thanks.

you need to select the folder every time, sometimes it remembers the last
used directory during a session though.

which version of outlook? if it is one with the places bar on the save
dialog, she can easily select a new place.. she can add a location just for
outlook attachments. (http://www.poremsky.com/places_bar.htm)

But if she breaks the link, outlook won't delete the saved temp. while the
attachment is open, close the message or select a different message in
preview. outlook forgets about the attachment and it should not be deleted
from the secure temp location. in the default location, finding the saved
attachment is difficult to impossible, so this isn't a good trick to use.
